about

Hectors frontman Jay Santario presents the OFFICIAL track by track guide to their new EP!!!

1. Tantric Noo Roomantic: "The whole "New Romantic" scene is just getting so old and it really needed the piss taken out of it. You see all these fifteen year-olds hanging around Balmedie Beach thinking they're Marc Almond and it really has to stop"

2. When's the Tea Ready:"When myself and Philip were in Jamaica last year we started picking up on Afro-Carribean rhythyms and that's where this came from"

3.Billy Sloan "Two of my biggest influences over the past year which I spent in the loft watching Caroline in the City videos, have been Pentothal and The Boy Cartographer. And I ended up really nailing the vocals in their style, if I do say so myself. Kathleen Hanna had popped round to get her "Shelley" videos back so I just asked her to do the backing vocals. She dingied me, but i was pretty proud anyway"

4. Mock around the smock: "Yes, it's going to be controversial. Why do you think I made the record? Our lyrics mean something"

5. Gary Numan needs another hit: "Well, this one is self explanatory. Gary knows how I feel. Just because the song's called "Gary Numan needs another hit" doesn't mean it's about Gary Numan, for God's sake. It's a metaphor for the crass commercialization of Japanese culture 1950-80".

6. Deepend: "Message to all the kids. WAKE UP. GUITAR MUSIC IS DEAD. VANGELIS AND MORRIS MINOR AND THE MAJORS ARE THE FUTURE"

7. I Don't know: "It's about f***ing, you know??? I mean, for god's sake, this is the future, let's not be so BLEEDING uptight."
